Veneers Q & A

Meadowbrook Dental Care

What are veneers?

Thin layers of porcelain, veneers are used to cover your teeth, enhancing your natural smile. Dr.  Casañas and Dr. Silfa use these custom-made shells to reduce the appearance of imperfections, including discoloration, chips, and cracks. They can also improve minor misalignments and make your teeth more uniform in size and shape.

Porcelain veneers are stain- and water-resistant, and when taken care of properly, they can last a lifetime.

How are veneers placed?

When you see your dentist at Meadowbrook Dental Care for veneers, it takes a few appointments to complete the process. During your initial consultation, Dr. Casañas and Dr. Silfa examine your mouth and teeth and discuss how you’d like your smile to look. They then discuss your options.

If you choose porcelain veneers, your dentist removes a thin layer of enamel from each tooth that will get a veneer. They then take an impression, which is used to create the mold for your custom-fit veneers.

In 1-2 weeks, your veneers are ready. You receive a thorough teeth cleaning and etching, which enhances bonding between your tooth and the veneer.

Dr. Casañas or Dr. Silfa matches the veneer to your tooth, and they may have to trim it for optimal fit. They make the final adjustment before cementing the veneer, permanently fixing it to your tooth. A special light activates the cement, and it hardens.

Your dentist removes any excess bonding material and ensures each veneer fits and bonds correctly. They also recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment 1-2 weeks after placement to ensure your teeth and gums are adapting.

What are the benefits of porcelain veneers?

When you decide to get porcelain veneers at Meadowbrook Dental Care, you get multiple benefits. Dr. Casañas and Dr. Silfa both have vast experience with veneers and make them naturally blend in with your teeth and mouth.

Unlike crowns, veneers don’t require extensive tooth alteration. In many cases, your dentist only removes a half-millimeter from your tooth’s enamel, which is then replaced by the porcelain veneer. They’re also resistant to food and beverage stains and require less maintenance than other types of veneers.

If you’re tired of hiding chipped, stained, or misshapen teeth, porcelain veneers can give you a smile you're confident to show. Call the office to schedule your initial consultation or book it online now.
